As I slither, I slither down your spine, slither!
Vier geile Bands für zwanzig Euro - das gibt es nur im Metal. Kataklysm brachen über Berlin herein, um mit Neaera, Fear My Thoughts und Quo Vadis im Gepäck das K17 in Schutt und Asche zu legen.
Quo Vadis aus Kanada walzten anständig los, und konnten trotz ihres (für Ersthörer) sehr technischen und komplexen Death Metals bereits einiges Köpfe zum Kreisen bringen. Eine anständige Leistung; diese Band sollte man im Auge behalten.
Danach kamen Fear My Thoughts. Die bis unter die Erde gestimmten Gitarren verliehen ihrem eher perkussiven Death Metal den entsprechenden Druck, sodass sich ein erster Moshpit bildete.
Dann Neaera. Ich hatte sie bereits im August 2006 das erste Mal live gesehen, schon damals konnte ich meinen Kopf anschließend drei Tage lang kaum mehr bewegen. Auch dieses Mal fegten sie mit einer ungeheuren Energie über das Publikum hinweg - die ganze Halle tobte. Die Songauswahl war wie gewohnt exquisit (was für Neaera angesichts ihres vor Hits strotzenden Repertoires sicherlich kein Problem darstellt), der Sound klar und deftig und die spielerische Leistung der Band trotz Gastgitarristen (Stefan Keller hat ein Examen zu bestehen) klasse. Einfach nur geil.

Was soll man dazu nur sagen?
Es war grandios. Gut, Maurizio Iacomo ist in Wirklichkeit fetter als man es von Fotos her vermutet. Und der Beckensatz macht nicht genug Druck. Ansonsten: genial!
Der Gitarrensound wie auf Platte, Max Duhamel trommelt wie ein Uhrwerk, Energie ohne Ende, Hits ohne Unterlass!
Ich habe es sogar geschafft, sowohl zu Benjamin Hilleke (Neaera) "Klasse Gig, Benny!" als auch zu Maurizio Iacomo "Fucking great gig, man!" zu sagen. Und das war es auch.
